How did you get started?
It actually started when I was about seven. I got a Polaroid camera for my birthday and I thought I was hot stuff. Later in life, when my oldest son was born, I was amazed at the beauty in his big blue eyes and started shooting him all the time. I also had an amazing best friend who was willing to practice and brainstorm with me (she now owns Stanley Family Photography). We would talk late at night on Yahoo messenger about ideas for shoots and work through technical camera issues. I actually worked a full time job during all of this and after a heavy demand for sessions on my days off, I decided to take the leap and quit my job. I started in my home at first and slowly worked my way into a studio about 3 years ago.

What style do you have?
I like to sometimes mix it up but I love to use a vintage post processing to most of my outdoor sessions along with some indoor. Textures are my favorite thing right now and use them 90% of the time. It lets me be creative with my images. I don’t want to present something plain and boring. As for my newborn images, I try to keep it soft and sweet for the most part.

What made you create posing guides?
I am a member of several forums. It started by me posing my baby images. I would get tons of private messages asking me questions about posing, lighting etc. Several begged me to do online classes or host a baby posing class. I do not feel that I am to that level yet, so I opted to make a posing guide instead. I had no idea how popular it would be and has now led to requests for a few other guides! I just finished my maternity guide and will have a family guide released soon.  It makes me feel good to know that I am helping another aspiring photographer. I wish I had that for myself when I first started!
