This week we’re giving away the Photographer’s Wall Display Guide which is a Photoshop template system that uses clipping masks and images of real room interiors to help you create amazing examples of wall displays for your clients. They were created by photographer Ariana Falerni, better known as mommy / photography blogger “becoming-mom.”

I love photographs that show it doesn’t take a lot of props, clothing changes, etc. to make a great session. This session by Suzanne Carey Photography is actually of her son when he was 14 months old. All she needed was a chair and a bright green apple to get the shots.
From Suzanne Carey Photography: During this session my little Max was 14 months old. This was one of those “impromptu” sessions. His older sisters LOVE to have their pictures taken so I have tons of them but I felt I was lacking in pictures of Max. So I sat him down in front of a large window in the back of our home. Our walls make for a great backdrop because they are a great neutral color. He loves sitting on stuff so I first sat him down on a suitcase I use during client sessions. We then moved on to a cute little chair my sister-in-law picked up for me at an antique store. He loves sitting in that little chair! To keep his attention and interest, I gave him an apple near the end of our little “mini-session.” Max really does love apples and this kept him happy for the rest of the shoot.
Tips from Suzanne Carey Photography:
1. Most kids love fruit. It is a great way to keep them occupied and happy while you can click away. Hey, it’s a great and inexpensive prop. But, be sure to give it to them at the end of the session because they can get a little messy!2. I love the way his eyes look on the close up shots. I tried to get some good catch lights to really brighten them up. To help me accomplish this I pointed his body toward the window so the light would hit them just right. The fact he was sitting in a chair made this easy. I was able to just move the chair around and it did not bother him a bit.
3. To make his eyes really pop I used a High Pass filter to sharpen his eyes.
