I don’t think we feature enough “studio” type photographs here on Inspire Me Baby. I think the key is not only to have great lighting (window or otherwise) but also to have a great expression. Sometimes, we may focus too much on posing or whatnot we forget to capture the personality and laughter. I thought this simple storyboard by Alison Eden Photography was a great example of what you can do with studio lighting and not necessarily focusing on contrived poses.

From Alison Eden Photography: I was pretty nervous about this session, since 3 months is not an age I have a TON of experience with (I shoot newborns and sitting babes much more often). And add to that the fact that there are two of them, I was a little concerned I’d have some trouble getting great shots of them together! Their mama wanted newborn photos initially, but they were born early, and one of the babies was in the hospital for several weeks, so we got them in as soon as we could. There really weren’t any problems during this shoot, surprisingly! We shot in my studio (north-facing windows) at 11:30-12:30. I used my strobe (Alien Bees AB00 in a big octabox) for most of the shots and processed them with a Lightroom preset I created. The babies’ ridiculous cuteness and great personalities definitely helped me out.
