If you were to ask most photographers what got them started in photography, I would predict a huge number of them saying it was so they could take beautiful images of their own kids. Well, I am one of those people. I remember taking my two year old daughter to a local park here in Nashville and photographing her literally daily! I fell in love with photography and in character with my extremely OCD behavior had to know everything their was to know about it. Somewhere along the line between taking images for clients I was not taking time to capture my own kids so I made it a goal this past year to take portraits of my own children. The past 4 years have been such a journey in discovering my own style and continuing to learn daily. This post is dedicated to my inspiration, my kids!

Some regular clients of mine were all set for an evening family session when mom asked if big brother Levi could carry his brand new little sister around in a Moby wrap. Little Riley was a bit fussy from all the commotion. As soon as she was in the wrap, she was instantly calm. Riley was just as in love with her big brother as he is with her. We could all feel their connection. And the images show how amazing soulful their bond is. He held her close, like she was his most prized treasure, while she quietly slept in his arms.

A very interesting idea from Luxe House Photographic! Slightly dark and scary but at the same time so beautiful. Looking forward to seeing more from this series!

By now everyone’s kids are probably back in school (at least in this part of the world) so we’ll officially kick off a new school year with this lovely vintage session from Sarah Jane Photography. I love that she took the time to teach this aspiring little photographer a few tips! I’m sure it made her day :)
